Sweder Design Co. is a boutique in-house custom product studio helping founders, event hosts, and growing brands show up in the physical world with the same intention they bring to everything else.

I'm Alex Sweder — founder, designer, laser operator, and mother of three based in Waltham, Massachusetts. Before this, I spent seven years as a public school teacher.
In 2020, home with three young kids during a pandemic, I returned to art. What started as painting became small-batch, functional design. In January 2023, Alex Sweder Art + Design launched.
And in 2026, it became Sweder Design Co. — a name that finally matches where this business was always going. The thread has never changed: I believe beautiful things should also be useful. I believe real growth still happens in real rooms. And I believe the objects a brand puts into someone's hands say more about them than any post ever could.
Work With UsBefore there were custom products, there were portraits. A collection of 75 portraits celebrating the Brandeis community from 1952 to the present — each one rendered by hand from a submitted photo, then laser-engraved onto wood salvaged from local trees. Made possible by a grant from Brandeis Arts Engagement.
Each portrait is a thread woven into the tapestry of a community — the same belief in craft, meaning, and the things people keep that runs through everything the studio makes today.
Explore the full collectionDigital is loud. Everyone is posting, boosting, and optimizing. But the moments people actually remember a brand happen in real life. A gift that lands differently. A sign that stops someone in a room. A keychain someone picks up at an event and actually keeps. These are the things we make. Not swag. Not filler. Physical tools that create real connection — and keep working long after the moment they were made for.
Design and fabrication happen under one roof. That means faster turnaround, tighter quality, and the flexibility to customize without the minimums of a traditional manufacturer.
Every piece has a job to do. We design for function first — whether it's a networking tool, a branded keepsake, or event signage. If it doesn't work, it doesn't leave the studio.
You shouldn't have to order 500 to get something beautiful. We work with you on exactly what you need — and make it look like it cost twice as much as it did.
We don't rush the work. Every piece is thought through before it's made.
Beautiful is the baseline. But if it doesn't have a job to do, we'll tell you.
We'd rather show you something honest than something that overpromises. You'll always know what you're getting.
We're not interested in making more stuff. We're interested in making the right stuff — pieces that create real moments between real people.
Tell us about your project, event, or idea. We'll take it from there.
